Hythe has a wide promenade overlooking a long stretch of beach over the English channel to France. It is also one of the termini of the famous Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Light Steam Railway, which runs parallel to the coastline through Dymchurch and New Romney to Dungeness. Joan's Cottage is just up above the famous 11th century Parish Church - and close to the town centre and beach. The Royal Military canal is nearby where the banks provide many delightful walks through the lovely countryside and for a slightly different day out, France is only 35minutes away via Eurotunnel from nearby Folkestone.
