Accommodation
Wick Court, is like nothing else we have ever seen, in terms of a holiday property! This handsome and unique building is situated at the end of a mile long lane, tucked within a bend of the River Severn, has its own moat and is surrounded by 140 acres of stunning English countryside. It is believed that the Court has a history dating back to c1480, but of particular interest is the fact that there was a Royal visitor, Queen Elizabeth I, who stayed here when she was forced to leave nearby Berkeley Castle. Today the property is run as a charity (Farms for City Children) providing children with the opportunity to 'learn about where food comes from, the importance of caring for animals and the land and the value of working co-operatively as a team.' (quoted from the Farm for City Children website). The property is unusual but it is ideal if your party is large, plus all proceeds go back to the charity (see below) which is for an excellent cause. The accommodation is basic but it is fun - after all when was the last time you slept in a bunk bed?ACCOMMODATIONGround FloorLarge working kitchens, fully equipped to cook for the 40 strong partyDining Rooms - there are two rooms with various dining tables, chairs and benches easily accommodating all peopleLiving / 'Common Room' with ample sofas, books and woodburning stove.Bedroom with two single beds, Bathroom with bath, WC and washbasinFirst FloorDormitory One ('Tom Putt') with 5 bunk beds, plus Shower Room with WC and washbasinDormitory Two ('Queenies') with 4 bunk beds plus Shower Room, WC and washbasinDormitory Three ('Solar') with 5 bunk bedsBathroom with shower, WC and washbasinDormitory Four ('Severn Bank') with four bunk beds with Shower Room, WC and washbasinBedroom with two single beds plus Ensuite Bathroom with bath, WC and washbasinSecond Floor, enjoying stunning views across the open countrysideSchool Room / Library Room with desks etc plus many, many childrens books to choose from.Reading Room with sofasOutsideGames Room with table tennis table, table football and 'air' hockeyLaundry Room with washing machines and airersBoot RoomWhile the price per week is as advertised, we would be willing to consider parties of a smaller size based on a minimum price. The River Severn is about 100 yards away, although access must be across a local lane.
