The village is best known for its connection to Rudyard Kipling and his home Batemans is now a National Trust property attracting many visitors. The village boasts 2 pubs grocery shop Post Office butcher antique shops and a tea room. Easily accessible from London the nearest main line station is 3 miles away and can transport you to London Bridge within 70 minutes. There is much to see and do in the local area with 4x4 action days pamper days horse riding and golf nearby including the East Sussex National Course which is 25 minutes away. Murder Mystery days are held at the Bluebell Railway and Herstmonceux Castle. Leisure facilities: outdoor swimming pool which is open daily from 20 May - 20 September until 6pm. The pool is shared with the main house however exclusive use for each party is on a rota basis mornings or afternoons. Closed 1 - 2 pm for lunch. Games room: exclusive use of games room which is located under the Hayloft and has a slate bed pool table air hockey and bar football. Play facilities: shared enclosed children s outdoor play area with swings and monkey bar set child s trampoline with enclosure slide and football goals. The spacious house offers FIVE bedrooms: on the ground-floor 1 king-size 1 double with en-suite shower room with WC and 1 further double. At the top of the oak staircase are 2 triple rooms each room having three single beds. Bathroom: on the ground-floor with roll-top bath and WC. Bathroom: on the first-floor with bath separate shower and WC. Separate WC downstairs. Lounge: with seating for 12 TV/DVD woodburner (first basket of logs included) and Wi-Fi in addition to a selection of films books and games.
