Asthall is an ideal holiday location, being an idyllic secluded hamlet with a village pub and another inn on the river by Swinbrook, a ten-minute walk away by road or across the fields.
Closer to the cottage in Asthall, just down the lane, is the historic Manor house and church. Asthall Manor was the childhood home of the Mitford sisters.
Oxford is a 25-minute drive away.

Accommodation overview: Mere Coach House is a simply stunning! A large, detached house located down a long drive on the edge of the premium (and quite famous) Cotswolds village of Fairford, it offers just about everything you could wish for when looking for an exclusive holiday home. Inside, the owners have created a very welcoming and stylish yet quirky home with large rooms throughout and four fabulous bedroom suites, each with bathrooms. From our perspective, we found the kitchen/diner the real heart of the house, warm and inviting with its huge Aga, and enjoying superb views across the private gardens and paddock beyond, both of which are perfect for children (and adults of course!) to play ball games. This is one for the family, it is also one for friends too given it's superb layout and location in this historic village. There is little not to like in this house, so we're quite certain you will have a fabulous and memorable holiday here. Accommodation overview: Temple Mews (Visit Britain 4 stars) is an absolutely delightful holiday home converted from an old Cotswolds farm building. It is situated in the lovely and traditional Cotswolds' village of Broadwell, itself just 2 miles from the popular market towns of Stow on the Wold and Moreton in Marsh. Internally, the property has been beautifully converted to provide a very high standard of self catering accommodation for up to four people, with much thought given to the provision of modern features to make your stay welcoming and comfortable. The accommodation is located on the first floor of the building (via 10 steps). Externally, it enjoys a very peaceful location, tucked down a quiet and private driveway and overlooks, and use of, an enclosed garden to the rear. A short walk away is the well established Fox Inn, serving food and local ales. In our opinion Temple Mews provides a wonderful country retreat in complete peace and yet within a short distance of two of the Cotswolds most delightful market towns.
