The Old Bakery is a converted, period, beamed detached stone property that lies near the green in the village of Kingham. Kingham is an attractive village, situated within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, built predominantly of Cotswold stone with some elegant tiled and thatch roofed cottages.

The village previously won the prestigious title of "England's Favourite Village" as featured in Country Life magazine and was named the best village in England by the Telegraph in 2010.

Within easy walking distance are the well-stocked village shop and post office, and the village's two highly recommended local pubs, the Kingham Plough, and the Wild Rabbit. The award winning Daylesford Farm Shop is within one mile of the village.

One mile outside the village there is a mainline railway station with direct trains to Oxford and London. The pretty Cotswold villages of Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, Chipping Norton and Moreton-in-Marsh are all within a 10-minute drive.

The property is presented to a very high standard (the owners own another property with Manor Cottages which is both a very high standard and also very popular with customers) with up to six bedrooms and four bathrooms available. The church in particular (a Grade One listed building) is relatively famous in local circles for its historical significance. Somerton is no more than 15 mins outside Woodstock, the very popular Oxfordshire market town and just 15 miles from the centre of Oxford. The village also enjoys superb travel links with Bicester train station (to London Marylebone) 10 mins drive away or Junction 10 of the M40 no more than 3 miles away. The village sits on the northern side of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds with the River Cherwell and Oxford Canal both meandering through the edge of the village and just moments from this holiday cottage. The meadows at the river are absolutely perfect for evening 'sun-downers'. There are many walks to choose from, right from your door. The very famous and very popular Bicester Shopping Outlet Centre (or Bicester Village as it is called) is 10 mins away if shopping is your thing. There are a variety of good pubs in the locality, but none in the village. Of particular note is The Falkland Arms in Great Tew, one of the prettiest spots imaginable.
