Located in the Snowdonia National Park, it is an ideal base to discover hidden places on foot or in the car. There are easy and challenging walks directly from Cyplau onto the moors with panoramic views, historical sites, and rushing rivers. There are many steam railways including the famous Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland lines. The Italianate village Portmeirion is an architect's dream with Mediterranean style gardens and excellent dining facilities. En route visit Harlech Castle, a World Heritage Site.
