The ancient stannary town of Tavistock is about 8 miles to the north offering a wide range of facilities on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park. From pre-historic stone rows and hut circles to more recent remnants of mining and quarrying Dartmoor offers a rich historical tableau. Scenic routes via the attractive south western slopes of Dartmoor lead to Plymouth with an array of shops pubs restaurants the historic Hoe the National Marine Aquarium and Theatre Royal. Places of interest within easy reach include Morwellham Quay famous for its industrial heritage and TV s Edwardian Farm Buckland Abbey and The Garden House.
