Accommodation overview:

Fell Beck details

Fell Beck is perfectly located in the village of Burnsall, arguably the prettiest village in Wharfedale. The cottage nestles at the edge of the village and enjoys dual aspect views of the adjacent beck and fell beyond, and of the village green with its handsome 16th century stone bridge straddling the River Wharfe. The river shallows and widens here and in Summer is a tempting place for a cooling paddle after a day's walking.

There is a large village green with maypole and next to the bridge is the famous Red Lion pub, which offers a fantastic pint by the river and extremely good food largely locally produced.

The village also boasts the ancient St Wilfred's church, a 16th century primary school and, unusually nowadays, a village shop and extremely good tea room. The village is on the Dales Way and there are many lovely walks from the doorstep, including river walks in both directions to Grassington via Hebden or to Appletreewick, which has two pubs to choose from.

Burnsall is a perfectly placed centre from which to explore the Dales. To the south the market towns of Skipton and Ilkley offer larger shops and supermarkets and bustling market days whilst a few miles north is the larger village of Grassington with a good butcher, baker, souvenir shops and a selection of eateries. The breathtakingly romantic sight of the ruined Bolton Abbey is just down the road, as is the legendary Strid, which can be reached via a lovely riverside woodland walk.

As well as having an excellent pub on the doorstep and lots more close by, there are many excellent restaurants in the vicinity including the Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey (Michelin starred restaurant), and the renowned Angel Inn at Hetton. The Angel has recently been named in the Times Top 20 Best Gastro Pubs in Britain.

Further afield are the more strenuous walks of Upper Wharfedale, as well as stunning Malham Cove, Hawes, famous for its Wensleydale cheese, Ingleton waterfalls, Stump Cross Caverns and Aysgarth Falls. Nearby are lots of potential rainy day attractions including York, offering the Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum amongst others, Harrogate and Knaresborough. It is also possible to visit the Bronte village of Haworth from here.
